Norway's resident population and number of households, plus the size of 1% and 5% samples in the period 1801 - 1950. The 1801, 1865, 1900 and 1960 to 1990 censuses are machine readable and to a large extent encoded already. In the period 1815 to 1855 the censuses were not nominative, so no individual samples can be constructed. The figures above, therefore, may be used to compute the number of individuals and households that have to be keyed in to construct one or five percent samples.
